How to Buy a Washing Machine - Things You Need to Consider

!±8± How to Buy a Washing Machine - Things You Need to Consider

Buying a washing machine is unlike getting a new ipod or a new iphone. Instead of small sleek look, you may look for a big size washing machine. Instead of fancy colorful design, you may just prefer one that is functional and does its job effectively instead.

There are a few factors you need to think about when you are planning to buy a washing machine.
Here are a few important considerations on your washing machine shopping list.

Which Type?

There are two main types of washing machines - front load and top load. A front loading machine is slightly more expensive compared to the traditional top loader. However it consumes lesser water and is more energy efficient in the long run. A front loader also obliterates the need for an agitator. This means that your clothes are subject to less wear and motion and thus, can last longer. If you have the budget and is unlikely to change the washing machine, a front loader would be your best choice.

What Size?

It really depends on how big is your household, what kind of clothes you need to wash and whether you have sufficient space for the washing machine. Obviously, a bigger size washing machine naturally is able to wash more loads per cycle, but remember, the bigger the washing machine, the more you need to pay upfront. Also, expects to consumer more water and electricity.

What Features?

Washing machines nowadays come with fancy features such as automatic load balancer, automatic water-level controls, delay cycle feature and more. Find out what are the advantages and disadvantages of these features. You may be surprised to know that most people seldom use the features except for the normal ones like spin and dry. So do not fall for the salesperson talk unless you really find it useful to have. After all, these features do not come free.

LG 11 KG Steam Washing Machine Review

!±8± LG 11 KG Steam Washing Machine Review

Many of us want to go with a slightly larger washing machine simply because it gives you the option of putting in a bigger load, like a duvet or maybe your quilt. Many of the smaller machines say that this can be done on their machines too, but take it from us, you cannot; especially if you have one of the larger sized comforters.

LG is one company that many people look at simply because it has a good name in the market; basically because they spend a lot of money on advertising, and because they offer some of the largest machines in the market. Before you plonk your money on them however, it might be worth your while to do a little research on them.

Many service engineers have expressed their opinions that with such a large capacity machine, the bearings that support the drum will wear down very fast resulting in lower reliability.

Although they advertise that their direct drive motor assembly is the lowest noise maker in the market, this is stretching the truth a bit. Even with the special noise reduction pack the official LG site says that you will get at least 51 decibels. Compare this to the old fashioned Bosch that gives you just 40 db and you know that LG is being a little loose with the truth here.

LG has always had a problem with balancing their loads, and the only people who have not had trouble with their machines are those who have taken the time to use a spirit level to find it a perfectly level base. Considering that most of us do not go to such extremes, be prepared to have an error anywhere in your wash cycle saying that there is a problem with balancing the load.

There seems to be a specific flaw with this model with regards to running at anything less than full capacity, and even experienced service engineers tell you off the record to cram it full of clothes if you want it to work well. Unless you want to do a load once every two or three days, this is not a feasible option.

For the price that you will pay for the LG, it might actually be a better idea to go with a Bosch or a Miele. People even say that the lower cost Whirlpool ones do not give you as much trouble as long as you get their stainless steel drum ones. Of course you may not get a 11 kg capacity, but then even a 7 kg one is sufficient for most families, unless you are looking for a washer for a commercial establishment.

The only good thing is that LG comes with a 10 yr limited warranty on their drive motor, but then what is the point of having a really reliable motor if the machine keeps spewing out errors.
